Who does Ulama refer to in the 28 verse of Surah Faatir?

Q: Two senior ulama, Ml Salman Nadwi and Ml. Sajjad of India, in their bayans in South Africa, stated that the verse: Innama Yakhsha Allaha min ibadihi al-ulama, refers to secular subjects like science, etc. Is this correct. Who does ‘ulama’ refer to in this verse of the Quran.

A: How can this ever be correct when the Khulafaa-e-Raashideen and the Sahaabah-e-Kiraam (radhiyallahu anhum) did not go for any type of secular education and they were akhshan-naas. If this refers to secular education it will mean that some aspects of khashyat is not in their lives. Secular education is sought only for the physical and material well-being. It doesn't connect you and encourage you to the hereafter in the least.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
