Writing and saying "salaam"

Q: If somebody writes only "Salam" instead of "Assalamu Alaikum". Is it ok for both, to be written and to be said?

A: No, he should say, "Assalamu alaikum".

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
