Being a vegan

Q: What are Islam's views on being a vegan? I understand it is mentioned in the Quran that cattles' milk and meat are also meant to be consumed by mankind, but now with the meat and dairy industry being shady about their actual processes behind the product-making, and maybe we can't always trust that the "halaal" products are even really halaal, where are we supposed to stand? If we choose to take the safest option by eliminating the meat and dairy option completely to show our protest against the slaughterhouses, does that mean we're against our nature as humans?

A: By the grace of Allah, we have Muslim organisations that are looking into these matters. There is no need to abandon the gifts and favours of Allah. Refer to the halaal governing bodies that you trust and rely, and continue.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
