Reading the translation of the Quraan only

Q: Scholars tell us not to only read the meaning of Quran (translation), as this can be misleading without any explanation. The people who know Arabic, they are reciting the Quran acknowledging the meaning of each word. Why should we read the meaning along with explanation while they are reciting the Quran knowing Arabic?

A: This is with reference to those who know the language well and it only applies to the verses that are pertaining to the hereafter and the greatness and grandeur of Allah Ta`ala. As for the verses that are intricate then they are also required to refer to someone who knows it well. Allah Ta`ala in the Quraan Shareef speaks of referring to the Rasul (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and those in authority.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
