Method of embracing Islam

Q: If someone wants to revert to Islam, how do they take the shahadah? Kindly tell me those words (the shahdah) which one has to utter.

As far I know, it is like is, La ila ha illalahu mohammadur rasululah.

Are these words sufficient for the shahadah to again become a Muslim because it is basically called the first kalimah in Islam. Are there are some other words fro shahadah (for a person to again enter in Islam)?

A: The person who wishes to embrace Islam should be made to recite the kalimah and taught the meaning of the kalimah.

The meaning of the kalimah is that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah Ta‘ala, and that Hazrat Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is the servant of Allah Ta‘ala and His final messenger. Thereafter, one should explain to the person the fundamental beliefs of Islam as well as the teachings and injunctions of Deen.

Over and above this, it is also necessary for the person to disassociate himself from all symbols, beliefs, actions, customs and other aspect of kufr and shirk (disbelief), and to reject all other religions which have been abrogated – especially the person’s previous religion which he used to follow.

After embracing Islam, it is better for one to have a ghusl and purify himself thoroughly.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
