Q: According to the Hanafi madhhab I would like to know how this principle of Husn Al-Zann is implied and what is the term for having a bad opinion or giving a bad opinion on unproven elements or on a simple imagination do these detractors have the right to doubt the intention of a person who clearly expresses the motivation for their action?
A: The Quraan and hadeeth encourage us to have husn-uz-zann concerning Muslims. This refers to a practising Muslim in whom you have not witnessed anything wrong. Yes, you could have a bad zann about yourself, perhaps we are not right, our intentions may be flawed or perhaps the approach or the word may have not been right. Thereafter make taubah for your own personal weaknesses.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
