Paying zakaat on inheritance that is not yet distributed

Q: My mother passed away in December 2023. She pays her zakaat in Ramadan. One year has not passed since the last Ramadan. Is there an obligation to pay zakaat from the estate.

A: Zakaat is not compulsory upon the wealth of the estate.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
