Q: I wanted to know if my father is legitimate.
I am a convert to Islam and my father and mother are kafir. They fornicated and I was born through that fornication.
I asked another mufti and he said that shariah laws do not apply to kuffar. Does this mean that I am my father's legitimate son?
A: No. You are attributed to your mother. If your mother remains a kaafir, the laws of inheritance will not apply but you will still show respect to her.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
