Muqtadi standing slightly behind the imaam when two people perform salaah together

Q: If there are only two people reading namaaz together, should they stand next to one another or should the person following stand at the foot of the imaam?

A: They should stand next to each other, but the muqtadi should be slightly behind.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
