Sleeping after fajr

Q: I am awake from 2 o'clock till Fajr time but after Fajr I feel extremely tired can I rest? Because I know after Fajr is a mubarak time to engage in zikr of Allah.

A: Sleeping after fajr and asr is not recommended. This is a time when the malaa’ikah change their shifts, and hence engaging in zikr and ibaadat at this time is recommended. However, if one is ill or very tired, then it is permissible for one to sleep. Nevertheless, it is better to sleep after the time of ishraaq (i.e. approximately 20 minutes after sunrise).

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
