Q: I have heard that when one is in Arafah and Muzdalifah, then one should engage in wuqoof. What does wuqoof refer to?
A: Wuqoof is for one to stand and engage in dua, istighfaar, zikr, the recitation of the talbiyah, recitation of the Quraan Majeed, etc. When making wuqoof, it is better for one to stand and face the qiblah. It is also permissible for one to sit and even to lie down. One should not engage in any act of entertainment or futility at the time of wuqoof, as this is an extremely mubaarak time.
