Loud zikr

Q: I am a bit confused about doing zikr loudly. After fajr in my local masjid (Deobandi) people usually do zikr loudly, and also in some spiritual gatherings I have taken part in (Chisti tariqa, with a Deobandi Sheikh) we do zikr loudly in group (by saying "laillaha... illa Allah" and "Allhu"). However, I have now come across that Imam Abu Hanifa considered loud zikr to be a bida'. Can you please clarify the matter?

A: Hazrat Moulana Gangohi (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) mentioned that according to Imaam Abu Hanifa (Rahmatullahi Alayh) those places where Shari'ah has commanded that zikr be made softly, for one to make loud zikr in those places is bid'ah. Imaam Abu Hanifa (Rahmatullahi Alayh) did not issue a general ruling that making zikr in a loud tone is bid'ah.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
