Q: My question is related to the relation of mine with my father as it is getting worse day by day. I am 22 years old. We belong to a middle class family and about 4 years ago we bought internet connection. My father is 56 years old now and when we bought the internet connection I was 18 and my father was 52. One day I saw my father watching porn on the internet and for me it was so heart breaking that I got shocked with the kind of mentality my father has. For some time I stayed silent that he might change his habits and for that I gave him some signals that I am aware of what he is doing when alone and at that time my sisters age was 12 years. I was more concerned that she might see him doing all this stuff and just few days later I saw my father was busy watching porn while my sister was standing behind him. On that particular day I broke my silence and told my mom about the whole incident. She talked to him and my father rejected my allegations upon him. This thing continued for about one year and he was losing his respect in my eyes. Last year we connected our tv set to cable and now he just watches tv, some movies and songs with bad dance. I dont like this also but I am silent as it is somehow better than what he was used to do. What I want to say is that he is stubborn and I do not respect him the same way like I used to or you can say that he has lost his respect. Our tv set is in front of my bed and I dont want him to sit on my bed when I am around, not because I do not respect him but because he used to sit in front of tv every time when he is free and for hours and I want my space on my bed because our house is small.
My question is that what should I do according to Islam and can I respect him or change him? Also, he has the habit of talking in loud voice and we hardly talk to eachother daily as my other relatives talk to their fathers.
Q: One of my cousins wants to ask you that when she was watching a comedy drama on tv with her husband, in the drama one men said to his wife, talaq talaq talaq talaq. Many times my cousin's husband used to repeat the words from the tv drama while they were watching. When he heard the word talaaq, he turned to his wife and launghed then he said to her talaq talaq talaq. He said that he had no intention of divorce, does divorce take place?
Q: My parents have always guided me away from certain sins and I would say that they are Islamically inclined in that they read all salaahs, abundant Quran and stay away from most sins. However, the one habit I've noticed that they seem unable to give up is their addiction to watching television. They watch Indian soapies and Hollywood/Bollywood movies till late at night. Sometimes I think they fall asleep with their TV switched on. Sometimes they will be watching a funny video or an interesting movie while I am getting something from their room and they'd tell me to come and sit down and watch with them. I have just recently begun cutting tv out of my life and as much as I want to watch as well, I feel guilty while doing so. What dua can I read so that my parents will stop watching TV and will get more hidayat? And what can I read to strengthen my willpower so that I will not get tempted to watch TV or commit any other sins?
Q: I was watching a religious show on TV, there was this Mufti who said that we should not offer salah behind a Deobandi since they say bad things about RasoolAllah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). How should we reply to such people who say such things and are misguiding the innocent people and creating doubts in their hearts and minds regarding the Ulamas of Deoband?
Q: Is watching cartoons or movies Halaal or Haraam?
Q: Please what is the Islamic ruling with regards to watching films?
Q: Mazi ki pareshaani he teen - chaar saal se. Jab bhi koi film ya kuch bhi dekhta hoo to mazi aa jata he. Dawa bhi kha ke dekh chuke he koi faida nahi hota he. Koi illaaj bataye.
Q: You know 90% people including muslims watch movies today which is very sad but my question is that when muslims watch movies where zina is shown other sins are shown and kufr and shirk is shown, then people come out of the cinema and say "Wow! That was and awesome movie". Do these muslims become kafir by saying that?
Q: My husband watches TV a lot. I don't like the TV at all. I have some questions, is it fine if I tell him while he is watching TV or Youtube videos about something Islamic? Like for example I said today while he was watching a Youtube video, "today is the 10th of Muharaam we can buy food", or is it wrong and should I wait for when he is not in front of the TV or watching Youtube videos? I thought that talking about Islamic things like that is wrong while he is watching haraam but I still did it. Also if I am in the kitchen and I can hear the music from the TV, and some sauces and spice bottles that stay in the kitchen have eyes on it and I am talkikng on the phone to a friend and I use words as "Insha Allah" and "make Dua" "Allah knows best" etc is that also wrong? I am doing that at the moment and I am feeling guilty please advise?
