Iddat

Working during iddat

Q: My husband has given me papers... He wrote I divorce you Talak Talak Talak... then in one line again I divorce you... How many divorces does it count?

He isn't giving any money... Can I work in a school during iddah as we were separated since a year?

Iddat after talaaq

Q: My husband gave me divorce on 20 May 2018. I came back to my parents house and completed my iddat period. As he wasn't doing any paper work and was forcing me to come back to him. I decided to make the papers by getting khula. I got khula on 6 April 2019.

Now my question is, after getting the khula papers, do I have to offer my iddat again or is it done since I already sat in iddat?

Working during iddat

Q: I've just got a divorce. Me and my ex have been living separately for the past 2 years but he refused to give me a divorce. He gave me the divorce yesterday. I know I need to sit in iddat, but I wanted to ask if there's any rules on work. I have about £800 expenses a month. I live with my parents but I do not think they can pay my expenses for the next three months. I work at an office full time and also have a part time job as a care assistant which requires travelling from house to house. I'm not too sure what to do and if I'm still allowed to work or not. Please help me out.

Working while in iddat

Q: I am 31 years old and been married for 7 years. From the first day my husband was unable to consummate the marriage because of his mild autism and anxiety issues (his father was very strict and abusive which according to doctors have resulted in his personality disorder). I tried to resolve the issue with the help of psychiatrists and urologists. He was barely able to perform under very high doses of medicines. He never came near to me until I requested him that we have to do intercoarse for having kids. Otherwise, It happened several times that we lived without intercoarse for 9 months to 1 year.

Later on I came to find out that if he does perform he still can't become a father because he is infertile too (with great difficulty and several attemps at clinic, he was enabled to deposit semen for test).

Now I have decided to take the divorce as I am tired of this nursing and unfulfilling life. For about a year we have never come closer. We practically sleep and live in different bedrooms.

My question is, if he agrees to sign the divorce papers, do I have to complete the time of iddat? My periods are fine and regular and it is very clear that I am not pregnant.

Secondly, I work as a research officer in a university which won't give me leave for three months. It is very important for me as I am financially dependent on this job. Moreover, can sit in iddat (without marrying another person) while going out of the house to work?

Iddah period for a woman whose husband had a vasectomy

Q: My cousin has been divorced from her husband and he has had a vasectomy many years ago. What is the fatwah on that regarding her iddah period (as the purpose is to determine pregnancy) and also, in regards to him seeing to her financial needs for the three months of iddah knowing that he has had a vasectomy and having the legal papers to show that he has had one?
