Tafseer

Tafseer of Surah Yunus aayat 94

Q: My question is regarding verse 10:94 in the holy Quran which has been questioning my Imaan and creating major doubts in my mind. The verse is within surah Yunus and as follows. Via th http://quran.com/10/94. Is it trying to imply that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) had doubts? Please help me it is really confusing. And that we should go read the bible and torah as they are the true messages of God?

Wahi

Q: This is just a small enquiry to help me to understand something a little better. The number of times that Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) received revelation from Hazrat Jibraeel (Alayhis Salaam). I have read that it is as many as 23000 times? Does this figure sound correct (I could be remembering incorrectly or maybe there was a typing mistake in what I read). The reason I wonder whether this figure is correct, is because the Qur'an has almost 6300 ayats, and some surahs were revealed at all at once, but there were also times that only a part of an ayat was revealed, so I thought (probably mistakenly) that a figure around 6300 would be more correct. If possible, please kindly explain if 23000 is correct.

Surah infitaar, verse 7

Q: In Surah Infitar (82) Verse 7, Allah Ta'ala says ‘Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you’. Is this ayat supposed to be understood for human beings in general? The reason for asking is that not all people are born proportioned - some people are born deformed, some people are born with leg length discrepancies, some people are born transgender.

Surah 14, verse 35

Q: And (recall) when Ibrahim (Abraham) submitted: ‘O my Lord, make this city (Mecca) a land of peace and keep me and my children from idol-worship. (Quraan 14:35)

1. Does this mean the dua is specifically for the biological children of Ibrahim alayhissalam (i.e. only Ismail alayhissalam and Ishaq alayhissalam, or does it refer to every single descendent of Ibrahim alayhissalam?

2. If it indeed is referring to every single descendent of Ibrahim alayhissalam, then what can be said about the polytheists amongst the Quraysh? Was not Ibrahim alayhissalam also their ancestor? If you kindly clarify this.

Slander and fornication

Q: I was asked this question by a Christian. If you can help me by answering this it will have a great effect on a fellow Christian brother in humanity. Therefore here is the question:

1. Can slander of a chaste women be forgiven? Yes [24:5], No [24:23].

Abrogation? The words of the lord are perfect in truth and justice; there is none who can change His words."[Sura 6:115] Also see 6:34 and 10:64. But then Allah (Muhammad?) sees the need to exchange some of them for "better ones"[Surah 2:106,16:101] and it is not for ignorant people to question Allah because of such practises!

2. What is the punishment for adultery? Flogging with 100 stripes (men and women) [Sura 24:2],"confine them to houses until death do claim them (lifelong house arrest -for the women) [4:15]. For men:"If they repent and amend, leave them alone"[sura 4:16].

Sura 24:2 contradicts both the procedure for women and men in sura 4 and why? Is the punishment for women and men equal in sura 24 but different in sura 4?

Surah Talaaq, verse two

Q: Surah Talaaq mentions “And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out.” Are some of the mufasireen of the opinion that this is specifically related to matters of rizq/provision?

Tafseer of Surah Nisa', verse 16

Q: Does this mean that don't punish them if they repent, Allah is of forgiving or punish them and if they repent leave them. Allah is of the forgiving (4:16)? And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful. (Sahih International)
