Playing football

Q: Is the playing of football (as opposed to watching) permissible if one's satar is not exposed, Salaah with Jamat is not missed, there is no swearing, arguing etc and the intention is to keep physically fit?

Video games

Q: I have a question, when I am not doing my coursework or studying Islam, reciting Quran, surahs, doing nafl actions, I like to play video games a little and in these video games you have to shoot bad people. These games don't contain any nudity, excessive gore, witchcraft or anything haraam. Could you tell me if these are halaal?

Going to the gym

Q: I am currently very over weight and I really want to get fit. I used to go jogging before but could not keep up and eventually dropped. I didn't have the will power. Now I am really interested in joining a gym, which is open for 24 hours. Is it permissible to join this gym and attend it at the times when it is very quite?

Singing "Tala Al Badru Alayna" at a soccer match

Q: At a soccer match on 20th February 2015 fans of a Saudi Arabian soccer team by the name of Ittihad FC 'sang' the nasheed "Tala Al Badru Alayna," and held up a scarf saying: "On Messenger of Allah my beloved." Muslims are getting excited by this, saying MashaAllah. Are these actions of the fans of the fans and the subsequent reaction of Muslims justified? If it is not, would you be kind enough to explain why?

Self defence

Q: I was wondering what the shariah law says in terms of what we are supposed to do in terms of a self defence situation. Can you please explain what I am allowed to do to defend my self and what I am not?
