Names

Q: It is permissible to use an indirect Quranic name. For example, Zayana is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “adorner”, one who adorns and beautifies something, “adorned”, beautiful, and one who improves things and solves problems. It is derived from the Z-Y-N root which is used in many places in the Quran: "And He [it is who] decreed that they become seven heavens in two aeons, and imparted unto each heaven its function. And We adorned the skies nearest to the earth with lights, and made them secure: such is the ordaining of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. (Quran 41:12)"

Medical issues

Q: My question is regarding my daughter. She is currently 5 weeks old. When she was not born I decided to name her Khadijah but when she was born I changed her name to Anabiya. Since she has born till now she has something going on. First she had gas and when we changed her milk she was fine after that she got younger infection.

My question is that weather this is due to the fact that first her name since when she was not born our intention was a different name but after she was born we changed it. She also cries a lot can you please tell me a Surat or dua that I can read every time she cries? Can you respond to me as soon as possible as if I should change her name to Khadijah or leave it to Anabiya?

Keeping Muslim names

Q: Is it permissible to name one's son after a video game character called "Shang Tsung"? It has a good meaning. It's origin is Chinese. I have heard that you may keep a name from any language as long as it has a good meaning. Like how some people keep the name "Rawshin" which isn't Arabic but it's still acceptable.
