What is the meaning of "Love and hate for the sake of Allah?"

Q: What is the real interpretation for "love and hate for the sake of Allah?" Does that mean we should hate non-muslims?

A: In other words, the love is not for material gain. It is on account of deen that you love the person. For example, you are teaching deen to a person and you love him on account of the fact that he is learning and you are teaching him deen. Similarly, you can apply this to the hate for the sake of Allah Ta`ala. For example, he is insulting his parents or any aspect of deen.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
