Q: Is it permissible to speak a lie to not make someone worried about you?
A: One should avoid speaking lies. Speaking lies is not permissible in Islam. However, in the case where one does not want to make people worried, e.g. one's parents are concerned about his health and they ask him, 'How are you feeling?' and he responds by saying, 'Alhamdulillah, I am feeling better', though he is feeling sick, however, he does not wish to make them worried, then this is permissible as he is not deceiving anyone nor breaking any command of shariah. However, at the time of saying 'I am feeling better', he should intend within himself that I am feeling much better compared to those who are more ill so that this is not a clear lie.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
