Qadha Salaah

Discharging fidyah

Q:

1. With regards to paying fidyah for the deceased person's missed salaahs, what is the minimum amount in the form of wheat?

2. An alternative to discharging the fidyah in the form of wheat or money is to feed one poor person 2 meals to their full for each salaah. Does it have to be the same poor person that is given two meals or can it be 2 poor persons given one meal each? Also, can one person be fed multiple times or given more than the stipulated amount of wheat? (E.g. Giving him 6 meals or a 10kg bag of wheat)?

3. How would fidyah be calculated if given in the form of rice or maize?

4. Are their any criteria for the recipients of the fidyah? Do they have to be Muslim and can children be fed as well or do they have to be adults?

5. As these calculations come to quite exhorbitant amounts, is it permissible to discharge the fidya in a country where the price of food is cheaper such as India, and does mufti know of anyone in India who can assist us in having this done?

Giving kaffaarah for missed salaahs

Q: I would like to know if there is a way I could pay for the missed salahs in my case.

After giving birth my menses cycle did not go normal and was bleeding continuously due to feeding. An Aalimah told me I needed to refer back to my habit previous of pregnancy which was 23 days of tuhr and 5 days of haidh. In this way while doing the calculations almost 2 years later I have discovered I have missed about 400 salah.

With 2 children it may become difficult to perform qadha. Is there a way I could pay for this miscalculation or does Qadha have to be performed?

Making up for qadha salaah

Q: I am confused on how to proceed with missed prayers. I am very ashamed of my past as I missed a ton of prayers due to laziness and ignorance. I have repented and I am trying to not miss any more prayers. I have been given 2 different instructions regarding the missed prayer.

1. All missed prayers should be made up with Qadha. One should calculate estimate of all prayers missed and offer qadha as much as one can.

2. It is not necessary to make up the missed prayers as Qadha as since prayer has a set time and once the time limit for the prayer has gone it cannot be done. One should repent and pray more sunnah prayers such as tahajjud and sunnahs of the fard prayers.

Which one is correct? Most people who gave me advice have advised 2 and quoted Al-Muhalla, 2/235.

Performing qadha salaah in place of all nawaafil salaah

Q: Please advise on qadha and nafl salaah. I have many qadha salaah to make up and have started performing my qadha salaah after every fardh salaah.

Alhamdulillah, I am also in a habit of waking for tahajud and use this opportunity to make dua and perform qadha salaah too.

I am curious about nafl salaah. Allah advises us to seek His assistance through patience and salaah. With so many outstanding qadha salaah, I feel ashamed to perform nafl salaah imploring Allah's assistance, even though I am in great need of Allah's help.

I have received conflicting advises regarding this. My brother (who is becoming an aalim- 5th year) advised that I should use the hours of tahajud to perform nafl salaah. An aalima that I'm close to, advised that I should payback my qadha as a matter of priority.

What I have been doing since, is using the opportunities where one might perform nafl salaah to perform qadha salaah, for example tahajud, salaatud Duha. And for instance, instead of performing salaatul Hajaat, I'd perform qadha salaah and make the dua of Salaatul Hajaat.

Missing Fajr Salaah

Q: I woke up with my alarm fajr time then I saw that there was some time for Fajr salah to end. So I decided to sleep for some time or close my eyes for some time then wakeup and pray Fajr salah but when I closed my eyes I was getting too sleepy so I said to myself and also thought that if I close my eyes or sleep for some time Fajr time will be over but my intention was to pray salah on time. So later I woke up after the time was over...

I was so sad that I woke up after the time finished. This happened for the first time with me and it was never my intention to miss the salah. After waking up after the was time over, I prayed Fajr so is my Fajr valid?

I am so worried. I was sure that if I will sleep I will wake up after Fajr time but my intention was to wake up and pray in time and I slept to get up after some minutes but unfortunately I didn't wake up. I never wanted to miss the salah.

Salaah becoming qadha due to not making fardh ghusl after becoming baaligh

Q: If a male becomes baaligh by having wet dream and ghusl becomes fardh on him, but he doesn't know that in Shariat you have to perform ghusl after having a wet dream. So he keeps praying with just making wudhu and after 3-4 months of his puberty, he comes to know that ghusl becomes fardh by wet dream. So are all his prayers in these 3-4 months counted or does he have to make qadha?

While offering these prayers again will he make intention of praying qadha prayer or will he make intention of repeating the prayer (I'adah)?

Sahib-e-Tarteeb making qadha of Zuhr Salaah after performing Asr Salaah

Q: I have a question about the Mas'ala of Sahib-e-Tarteeb:

1. If a person is Sahib-e-Tarteeb and he misses a prayer, for e.g. Zuhr. And then prays Asr and after praying Asr, he prays the Qaza of Zuhr. So obviously his Asr prayer is invalid. But what if after praying his Zuhr Qaza, he misses 6 more prayers. So he no longer remains Sahib-e-Tarteeb. So by missing 6 prayers will that Asr prayer which he offered becomes valid?

2. What if he then again offers all those 6 prayers' Qaza and again becomes Shahib-e-Tarteeb, will now his Asr prayer become invalid again?
