Zakaat

Paying a zakaat collector from the zakaat funds

Q: I have read in Ma’ariful Quraan (English) under the verse of "wal Aamileena alayha" that zakaat can be given to those collecting the Zakaat on behalf of the state.

Nowadays, many organisations in non-Muslim countries also collect zakaat on behalf of the organisation and then distribute it to its recipients.

My question is: Can the person appointed to collect zakaat on behalf of the organization be paid his salary from the zakaat money?

Giving sadaqah for a safe delivery

Q: I have a question that my wife is pregnant for the second time. We have one more baby Alhamdulillah. In a couple of days, we have seen that we have lost our first child and later we got her in the dream. We want to give Sadaqah of our first child as well as of the baby who is in his/her mother womb. So is it possible that we can give Sadaqah of the child who is supposed to come in Duniya very soon?

Nisaab for zakaat for husband and wife

Q:

1. I have question regarding zakat. I am a married and a house wife. My husband is working in another city. My husband gives me money monthly for home purchases and some pocket money. We don't have our own house, we just bought a piece of land 5 months ago and want to build a house. My husband has 7000 dollars and I have more than 100 grams of gold. So is zakat and qurbani waajib on me and on my husband or do we first have to build our house?

2. If qurbani and zakat is waajib on us, do we have to pay zakat separately and do qurbani separately?

How to calculate zakaat

Q: I'd like to know how to calculate zakaat. I am 25 years old and have never paid it as I don't know how to calculate it. I do tutoring for 2 children, I have some shares, I have some money in my bank account and I have money in a money box but I don't know how much money I have in that money box. I also have some gold jewellery of which I wear some of it but not all and I don't know the value of it.

Is it true that you have to also pay zakat on clothing that you have not used in over a year? Please assist.

Using the wealth of someone who does not pay zakaat

Q: My husband does not pay zakah on his savings even after reminders that it is a fardh and the punishment of not fulfilling this fardh. My question is that he gives me momey for the maintenance of the house and for my needs and that of our children, is it sinful for me to use his money? I do fear that him not paying his zakah may bring a calamity (Allah Ta'ala forbid) on our family.

Which type of debts will be deducted when calculating zakaat?

Q: I was informed by certain Ulama that when calculating my Zakaat, I should only exclude my yearly liabilities and debts. Apart from that, I should pay Zakaat on my entire wealth. These Ulama explain that the reason for excluding the yearly instalments and liabilities is that it is treated as a debt that is payable immediately. The liabilities and debts over and above the yearly instalments will not be taken into account since it is Mu’ajjal (deferred). Is this view correct?
