Q: To my knowledge insurance is Haraam, however I see a number of Muslim insurance brokers selling insurance. Is this permissible to sell, wouldn’t it be the same as selling another haraam thing.

Pharmacy selling medication which contains haram gelatin or alcohol
Q: Is it permissible for a pharmacy to sell the following products:
1. Items containing gelatin from animals that were not slaughtered according to Shari’ah?
2. Items containing alcohol which have a non-alcoholic equivalent.
3. Also, will the money earned from such sales be haraam?
Taking a commission for one's service
Q: I work as a middleman, taking orders for medical equipment, surgical instruments, etc. I make money through charging a commission on the orders. Is this permissible?
Online forex trading
Q: Is online forex trading permissible? Many brokers offer Islamic non-interest accounts. I intend only trading in gold. Is this fine?

Q: I am a student. I have few notes that are copyright and very expensive but I have a copy of them. Can I sell copies at a low price as a lot of people are looking to buy them online and I need money for further studies?
Buying an item on instalments
Q: I want to buy a new laptop which is currently worth R6ooo, but I don’t have enough money. If I purchase it in instalments, it will cost R7800 over one year. Is this permissible?
Transacting with one's spouse
Q: Can you do a business transaction with your spouse? E.g. the husband wants to buy a car. Can the wife pay for it and sell it to her husband with a profit on the sale of the car?
Employment agency
Q: An employment agency fee structure is as follows: As long as the employee works for the employer the agency will receive a percentage. Is this correct?
Is there any limit to how much profit a person can make?
Q: I run a supermarket. Is there any limit on the amount of profit that I can make on the items that I sell?
Purchasing a cat as a pet
Q:
- Is it permissible to purchase a cat? I am of the Hanafi Madhab.
- If impermissible, please advise with regards to the SPCA.
To adopt a cat from them, based on the information provided on their website, it outwardly appears that no fee goes towards purchasing the actual animal itself.
Rather, R100 is allocated to a 'Pre-Home Inspection' where an "inspection of your property will be done to ensure that animals are placed in homes suited to their needs." Then, based on the suitability of your home, a further adoption fee is charged for a "health check, sterilization, first set of innoculations, micro chip, collar and ID disk.
