Respect for Ulama

Abdaals

Q: Kindly explain what are Abdaals. Also advise if there is any authenticity to the belief of 40 Abdaals being present at any time around the world.

Making an effort to respect teacher

Q: One of my teachers does not talk to me because of some misunderstanding which was not my fault. I tried to explain to hime but he did not believe me. Now when I see him while driving, I put my hand up to greet him but he does not respond. I also see him in the supermarket but he just walks past me. I said salaam in a loud tone but he did not reply. My question is that as a Muslim is my duty fulfilled by trying to talk to him and if I see him I would make Salam or put my hand up. Will I be sinful because he does not not talk to me? Have I done my duty?

Keeping Good Opinions About Ulama

Q: I'm a youth and there's just something that's been bugging me for a while: Sometimes when you go out then you hear people saying that nowadays a lot of the Ulama only want to know you if you are wealthy or if you pious i.e. the ordinary person is overlooked ( I know this is not true for every Moulana and there are many Ulama who are not like this). This has happened to quite a few people who I know where a well known Aalim will greet selective people. This kind of attitude puts a young person in a position where they feel a bit despondent. I was just wondering if you could advice me on this.
