Accepting gifts without the consent of one's father

Q:

1. At the time of my marriage my relatives gave me gold ornaments as gifts but my father does not like at all that I receive those gifts. Can I accept those gifts without the consent of my father?

2. If I don't accept those gifts to please my father, can I accept it after my marriage as I will be no more under his responsibility rather I will be under my husband's responsibility?

3. If my father told me that I don't like you accepting those gifts even after your marriage and I agreed to him, can I still accept them after my nikah or not?

Imaam being appointed as the wakeel of the girl

Q: Due to certain circumstances my daughter and I have had little contact. In December she told me she want to get married and that she would like if I will be her wakheel to give her off on her wedding day. They were going to come see me to finalise everything. I was not contacted again till a few days before the wedding by her mother asking if I was still going to give her off. I responded by saying nobody asked me for her to get married. The mother answered that I never had time for the daughter and that I don't have any rights over the daughter. I then said that she must then go to her Imaam and make him her wakheel. They then got married. Is this the correct way? Is her marriage halaal?

Protecting one's mother

Q: I know that Islam gives most priority to the mother. If my father is a bad guy and continuously does very rough behaviour with my mother, then what can I do? If I also am rough to my father for the sake of my beloved mother to protect her, then will it be a sin? What can I do? My father tortures my mother both mentally and physicaly. I have attempted a lot to make my father good, but still he is a bad one. Please tell me, in this case if I hate my father and do rough behaviour when he scolds my mother for nothing, then will it be a sin?

Family problems

Q: I am 14 years old and I am going through a lot of depression in my life. I am very unconfident and find it hard to make friends at school. I have no one to talk to or share my problems with. I used to have my cousin but i feel like i cant trust her as much as before. My dad shows a lot of hatred towards me and I have never known why. I think it is because I am girl because he loves my 11 year old brother a lot. My brother is the completely opposite to me. I have tried to share my problems with him but all he does is makes fun of me and now I regret it. My mum is the only person who I love but I can't share my problems with her because she doesn't understand English and she wont be able to help me. I have these other cousins which hate me and my dad treats them like his own children he distances me away from him but he tries to get closer with them. They always show off with the money they have and all of the things they have. They try to make my life hell they just make my life really stressful. Their mum tries and acts like my mum and says things against my mum so I turn against her and they do the same to my brother. I just want them to stay away from our family so we can lead a better life. They also try and create fights between my mum and her siblings but it never works and thats when they start with me. My dad just listens to them and takes there side and I get into so much trouble for what I haven't even done. I just wish that you can make duaa for me to make friends and make me read my namaaz with my full concentration and my cousins family leave us alone. Thanks for taking time out and reading it and I hope you can reply soon with a duaa to make some friends that I can trust. Please can you help me.

Relationship with one's father after divorce

Q: I have a very complicated question for you. Basically, my mother got divorced from my father many years ago, it was a forced marriage and was not built to last of course. Father was 40 years older than her, she was just 16 when she got married. Now she is saying I cannot speak to him, nor attend his funeral if he dies. In fact this year she has told me to completely sever all relations with him, otherwise she will disown me. I know she has been through hell and back because of him, and they did not get on well with one another, but do I have any rights, or must I be obedient and do sabr? If mother finds out that I have even glanced at him, I will be disowned and possibly thrown out of the house. I don't blame either of them. I love them both, but why must I go through all this? Is this a punishment for my sins? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Woman consulting her elders in regard to nikaah

Q: I have a divorcee woman with 3 teenage kids that wants to marry me. She is very adamant. I do not see her as suitable life partner but I worry that I might sin with her or someone else as I am not yet married. I have been told she does not need a wali, but can we conduct the nikaah ourselves as we are both reasonably old. What is the simplest way we can do nikaah just for ourselves.
