Marrying shias

Q: I am a Sunni Muslim and I had a question about a Sunni - Shia marriage. Am I violating my belief if I compromise with my shia wife to not name my child the names of the first three caliphs?

A: It is not permissible to marry shias. Shias are not Muslims. They believe that the Qur’aan Shareef has been distorted. Similarly, they also believe that the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu anhum) had turned apostate, Allah forbid. The one who believes in this is a kaafir.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
