Zakaat

Assisting beggars

Q: What are we supposed to do with the beggers around the street and market from which most of them are physically normal and mentally stable while other are handicapped or old. Should we help them by giving them money or not?

Paying a persons hospital bill with zakaat money

Q: I use to pay zakat to a mustahiq (one worthy of accepting zakat). During Ramadan, he had a heart attack and was admitted to hospital. He could not pay the bill. Neighbours collected funds to pay the hospital on his behalf. I also contributed to that fund through my zakat money. On getting discharged from hospital, he thanked me for my contribution. Is my zakat paid this way?

Zakaat on loans owed to a person

Q: I always paid zakaat on monies people owed to me regarding this as an asset. My question after listening to this mornings audio (zakaat on waived debt), does this mean I do not have to pay zakaat on monies due to me from loans given to a friend, family until such time as the money is repaid to me.

Zakaat on bamboo and sugarcane

Q: I have question regarding zakat. I have cultivated bamboo on my land. Do I have to give zakat on bamboo? As far I know, the bamboo plant is not for eating so after harvesting it will I have to pay zakat?

What about sugarcane cultivation? E.g if I cultivate sugarcane on my land, it takes one year to harvest and after harvesting I have to send it to the sugar mills and I receive my money like after 2-3 months. So it takes 14 months and my harvest is almost more than 40000 mound what I have to pay? Will it count in money?
