Insurance and Medical aid

Is there "Islamic" insurance policies?

Q: I have noted responses indicating insurance and any policy that covers estate costs and costs associated with death is Haraam. There are companies like Tazkiya and Capital Legacy that say they have Shariah compliant policies including life insurance and these are accredited and supported by learned people in some cases but in the main they are validated by Muslim people. What are the views regarding this?

Body corporate allocating insurance for the home in monthly levies

Q: I have recently moved into a house which forms part of complex and is run by a body corporate. The house belongs to my wife in a Family Trust, however I pay the expenses to run the house. I have just recently found out that the monthly levies I pay includes a portion which is allocated to insurance for the home. I was unaware of this and thought that the home was uninsured.

Please advise on what I should do ?

Taking out mandatory travel or health insurance

Q: My husband and I were planning on taking a trip to Istanbul, Turkey. We considered it as it is a Muslim dominant location and we wouldn’t have to worry about halal food and would get to visit mosques and for how beautiful it is. However there are two issues:

1. Turkey has a mandate of a travel insurance or health insurance in order to travel to Turkey without which they do not approve of the visa. What should be done in this case?

2. Back when covid was rampant and vaccination was being made compulsory, I have made a fake certificate. This was done because the vaccine was beeen given mandatorily without it being tested sufficiently. Many people did the same to avoid harm that could be caused due to the vaccine. Now mostly all countries do not require the vaccine certificate but they do sometimes ask for it. What should I do? I cannot get an actual vaccine because the system thinks I have had it already. Plus, post vaccination a lot of people have suffered and some say it is attributed to the vaccine and I don’t want to get vaccinated. Should I just show the fake certificate I have?

Franchise charging insurance to their customers

Q: We have a tyre business which is a Dunlop franchise, they have this tyre insurance for the customers. Any damage to the tyre and they send a replacement after doing their tests. They charge us R10 per tyre for this which I pass onto the customer.

I add it to the cost and then add my markup. I tried getting out of this but it’s compulsory from their side.

How should I handle this… Is it permissible?

Should I add my markup first then the R10. Because my intention is not to make money on the insurance…

Clalit Health Services

Q: "I've been informed by my Muslim friend, an Israeli citizen, that according to the Mashaaikh in Palestine (Israel), participating in Clalit Health Services is considered permissible. Clalit is a health maintenance organization where members pay a fixed monthly fee for comprehensive healthcare coverage. Considering this structure, I seek further clarification and alignment with Islamic principles.

Additionally, is the model of Clalit Health Services similar to that of medical aid commonly seen in other places, or are there significant differences that I should be aware of? I kindly request insights on this matter, and if further research is necessary for accurate understanding, it would be appreciated if you could provide guidance on the key aspects to explore."
