Qiblah

Facing the wrong direction when performing Salaah

Q: A family moves into an apartment, they use a well known Qibla finding app to locate the Qibla direction and pray. Months later a neighbour points out that the direction is wrong and they must face the other direction. The difference is about 90 degrees apart. What happens to those Salaah that were prayed in the incorrect direction, are they valid or do they need to be repeated?

Facing the qiblah

Q: Our masjid was built in the 1980’s and the committee at that time put the carpet in line with the building although the qibla was at an angle so that more musalees could pray salaah. The qibla is out by approximately 23 degrees. The link bellow shoes the correct qibla in Blue line and the qible being used is in line with the centre ridge of the roof.

A mufti gave a fatwa some years after the masjid was built, that they could continue praying salaah in the current wrong direction to prevent controversy, but if the carpet is ever changed, then the correct qibla should be followed. Last month the current committee changed the carpet (knowing the fatwa given by the mufti to change the qibla direction if the carpet is changed) but kept the old incorrect qibla. Will salaah in the masjid with the wrong qibla be accepted? Does the committee need to move the carpet so that the correct qibla is achieved?

Facing the wrong direction and Performing Salaah

Q: About 2 months ago when I prayed Dhuhr in school, one girl changed the direction of the prayer and I prayed with her even though iI had severe doubts about if it was the right direction. I then found out that it wasn't the right direction but I didn't repeat the prayer. Should I redo the prayer? And is it as if I didn't pray? I had forgotten about this incident, it recently came to my mind, what should I do?
