Hair and Nails

Q: There are many colour dyes available in the market. It is said that using these dyes are haraam because it contains chemicals if they are applied on beard they prevent the hair from getting wet. It is obligatory that the beard should get wet while doing wudhu else our wudhu is invalid. Please clarify? Do these latest dyes cover the hair with a layer like nail polish or they bleach the hair with colour? Even if we use these chemical dyes the hair gets wet and washed while bathing. I fail to understand how only while doing wudhu they don’t get wet and washed? This defies logic and science. Please advise.

Q: I wanted to know whether it is extravagance and disliked in Islam that a girl gets her hair smoothened (costs around 10 to 15 thousand Indian Rupees) to beautify herself for her husband at a Muslim Beauty Salon where only Muslim women see our hair?

Q: A man's wife is seven years younger than him and his beard hair is turning white, whilst her hair is black. Is it permissible for him to use dark brown dye, which makes the hair look black, provided the ingredients are halaal and the dye does not coat the hair and the water reaches the roots? If this is not permissible, what other products and colours can be used?

Q: Can boys use hair removing creams to remove hair above the sensitive part and underarms?

Q: Is it permissible to use dark brown hair colour or brown henna for hair?

Q: I'm a 32 year old Muslim woman and have natural dread locked hair. I want to find out is it permissible to have and if not what do I do because a woman isn't allowed to cut off her hair?

Q: Is it permissible for one to use wigs or hair extensions which are made from either synthetic hair or hair of human beings? Similarly, is it permissible for one to do implants with one's own hair or the hair of another human being? 

Q: Is it necessary for a woman to shave the underarms and pubic hair regularly and are women allowed to use scissors or shaving blades for this purpose?

Q: I had confusion in hair colouring. I am twenty years old and I have slight brown hairs which I want to dye and turn it into fully brown colour hairs. Please let me know if it is permissible?

Q: Growing a beard is fard and it is sinful to shave it. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) commanded us to grow them. If the hadith of the beard was to be looked at technically, the wording in the hadeeth is to be understood to let the beard grow. As in just leave it completely. But we have narrations of sahaba trimming their beards a fist length. So scholars have concluded this is the exception to the case and have set a minimal length of the beard to be a fistful. Who ever trims it so its smaller than a fist length is a sinner. Is this correct? I do see many people of knowledge who trim it so its less than a fist length. Please elaborate.
