Performing Salaah next to a person wearing a pigskin jacket

Q: If in the row behind the imaam the person next to me wears a pigskin-leather jacket, and this jacket touches my clothes or my bare skin (as it will obviously do since we must stay close together in the row) during qiyam, ruku, sujud, tashahhud. Will this affect the validity of my Salaah? Does the validity matter if it touches my clothes or the bare skin? Am I considered the carrier of the jacket when it touches me?

The Hadith of receiving rewards for recitation of the Quraan

Q: Can you please validate this hadith and let me know your thoughts on this hadith.

Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Abbaas narrates, Abu Yasir Bin Akhtab, his brother Hayy Bin Akhtab and Ka'b Bin Asharaf asked Rasoolullah Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam"to swear and tell us if the Alif Laam Meem has been revealed on you as is"? Our beloved Nabi Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam replied "yes". Hayy then said "if you are truthful then your Ummah will remain for a few years, so how can we accept this religion." They pointed out that according to the knowledge of numerical value it is obvious from the letters of Alif Laam Meem that this nation will be obliterated within 71 years. Hayy asked, "is there any other word like this."

The Beloved replied "yes, there is Alif Laam Meem Saad." Hayy said. "this value is 161 which is more than previous". Then he asked, "is there any more?" the Beloved replied "yes there is Alif Laam Raa." Hayy said "this is even more than first and the second, and we bear witness that your Ummah will only be dominant till 231 years." Then he said "is there anything else besides these?" The beloved Rasoolreplied "yes Alif Laam Meem Raa is also revealed on me." Hayy said, "we won't believe in you because we are not sure as to which one of your words we should believe." Then Abu Yasir spoke, "we bear evidence that our Prophets have informed us that this Ummah will rule but they did not tell us for how long, so if Muhammad is truthful in his statement then according to my understanding Alif Laam Meem, Alif Laam Meem Saad, Alif Laam Raa and Alif Laam Meem Raa all will be gathered for this Ummah." Then all the Jews got up and left by saying "your matter is doubtful to us." (Hashiya Saikh Zaazah Tafseer Bedawi, Vol 1, page 65)

Fabricated narration

Q: I found the below hadith in a spiritual healing book, the book did not mention any reference of this hadith, to create awareness through emails, blogs, forums, could you please provide me the reference of this hadith and its authenticity?

It is reported that Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, requested further information about allahs injunctions of the keys of the treasures of heavens and the earth (mentioned several times in the quran). The Prophet(s.a.w.s) said to him:"You have inquired of me something which nobody has ever asked me before. the keys of the treasures of the heaven and earth are as follows":

la ilaha illa llahu wa llahu akbar,wa subhan allahi wal hamdu lillahi wastagfiru llah alladhi la ilaha illa hu wal awwalu wal akhiru waz zahiru wal batinu yuhyi wa yumitu wa huwa hayyan la yamutu, bi yadihil khayr wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadir.

There is none worthy of worship except Allah. Allah the Almighty is the greatest. Allah is the glorious and praiseworthy and I ask Allah for forgiveness. There is no power to do good and no strength to be saved from evil except with the grace of Allah. He is the first and the last. He is the apparent and the hidden . He is the Everliving Who never dies. He imparts and takes away life. There is blessing with Allah the Almighty. He is the ruler over everything.

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) continued:"O Uthman! Whoever recites it one hundered times every day will be rewarded by ten graces.First all his previous sins will be forgiven. Second, his sufferings from hell fire will be written of. Third ,two angeles are appointed to guard him day and night from his sufferings and diseases. Fourth,he is granted a treasure of blessings. Fifth,he will reap as much blessings as someone who would have set free one hundered slaves from the offspring of the prophet ismail(a.s).Sixth, he would be rewarded of blessings asif he had read the entire Quran, the Psalms, the Torah, and the Bible. Seventh, a house will be constructed for him in the heaven. Eight,he will be married to a pious heavenly maiden.Ninth he will be honored with a crown of honor. Tenth, his recommendations( for forgiveness) of seventy of his relatives will be accepted.”

Hadith regarding looking at parents with the sight of mercy

Q: Based on this hadith if we cast loveful glances on our "dead parents" imagining them in our mind, will we get the same reward as mentioned in the hadith below?

Hadrat Ibn 'Abbas (God be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed : "The pious offspring who casts a single look of affection at his parents receives a reward from God equal to the reward of an accepted Hajj." The people submitted: "O Prophet of God (peace and blessings of Allah be upon you) : If someone casts a hundred such glances of love and affection at his parents, what then?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed; "Yes, indeed, even if one does so a hundred times a day, he will get a hundred fold reward. God is far greater than you imagine and is completely free from petty narrow mindedness." (Muslim)

Hadith of Hirz Abu Dujana

Q: I would like to know about authenticity of the following incidence, this dua is known as 'Hirz Abu Dujana'. Imam-i Baihaki says in his book Dalail-un- nubuwwa and Imam-i Qurtubi in his book Tazkira that Abu Dujana said, "I was lying down, when I heard a noise like the noise of a mill or that of the leaves of a tree and saw a flash like lightning. I raised my head to see something black that was rising in the middle of the room. I felt it with my hand. It was like a porcupine's skin. It began to throw things like sparks at my face. At once I went to Rasulullah and told him what had happened. He said, 'O Aba Dujana! May Allah give your home goodness and abundance!' He asked for a pen and a piece of paper. He had Ali 'radiAllahu anh' write a letter. I took the letter to my home. I put it under my head and went to sleep. A yelling voice woke me up. It said, 'O Aba Dujana! You have burned me with that letter. Your owner is certainly much higher than we are. There is no way of escape for us, except that you remove that letter. We shall no longer come to your home or your neighbors.' We cannot go to places where the letter is.' I told him that I could not remove the letter without getting my owner's permission. The night seemed very long to me because of the crying and wailing of genies. After performing the morning prayer in the mosque, I told Rasulullah what the genie had said. Rasulullah 'sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam' said, 'Remove the letter. Or else they will suffer the letter's pain till the Resurrection.'"

This dua is also found in Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi[RA] 's Bahishti Zewar.

I have also heard that some Fuqha have considered it as a fabrication, please explain its authenticity.

Hadith regarding how often should one complete the Quraan Shareef

Q: With regards to the recitation of Quran, I have found two different hadith:

1. Quran should be read not less then seven days:

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: Wahb ibn Munabbih said: Abdullah ibn Amr asked the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him); In how many days should one complete the recitation of the Qur'an? He said: In forty days. He then said: In one month. He again said: In twenty days. He then said: In fifteen days. He then said: In ten days. Finally he said: In seven days. [Sunnah Abu Dawood]

2. Quran should be read not less then three days:

Abd Allah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As (Allah be well pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "Whoever reads the Qur'an in less than three days does not understand (what he recited)" Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasa'i, Bhukari

I have the following question’s:

  1. How do we reconcile and understand the about two narrations that mentions 7 days and other as 3 days?
  2. Is there any authentic daleel to prove that Quran can be recited in less than 3 days ? Some people say to read Quran in less then 3 days is against the practice of sunnah.
  3. I have heard that many salaf have completed Quran many times in less than 3 day? How can we say authenticate this practice and such reports.

Hadith regarding memorising forty Ahaadith

Q: Please let me know the authenticity of this hadith and the book of hadith in which it is mentioned.

The Messenger of Allah, (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), said: "Whosoever memorises and preserves for my community forty hadith concerning matters of this religion, Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Judgment in the company of jurists and religious scholars."

I have heard many say this hadith is weak.

Also please explain the meaning of this hadith, does it mean:

  1. One should memorize it in Arabic or his local language.
  2. Does it mean one should memorize it by completely understanding it.
  3. Does it mean one should memorize it by actually practising the hadith.
