Q: Please advise how exactly is a nikah consummated. Is it necessary for the couple to perform intercourse or even if they slept together that shall be sufficient to perform walimah.
A: The perfect sunnat is that the waleemah is after the consummation. However, just being together and then having a waleemah is also permissible.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
