Hadith

Meaning of the Hadith in praising Shaam

Q: The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) praised the people of Shaam and I have come across people from that region especially Syria who had dealings with the company I work for and they refused to pay money for the goods they were supplied with five years ago and come up with excuse after excuse. They have the ability to pay but they don't. Does the praise for people of Shaam apply to all times because clearly they contradict Islamic character. Kindly clarify.

Meaning of the Hadith "Allah will say to every Muslim, Jew or Christian - that is your rescue from Hell-Fire"

Q: Sahih Muslim 2767a - Abu Musa' (radhiyallahu anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

When it will be the Day of Resurrection Allah would deliver to every Muslim a Jew or a Christian and say: That is your rescue from Hell-Fire.

According to this hadith, a Jew or Christian will be our rescue from hell fire. I know that they will take our place in hell, but why did Allah said they are our rescue from hell? Is that the real wording? Because the non-muslim take this verse literally.

Virtues mentioned for “gatherings of zikr” refer to all gatherings wherein the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala take place

Q: In the book Fadhaail A’maal and Muntakhab Ahadeeth, there are many virtues mentioned for “gatherings of zikr”. For example, angels envelope such gatherings, sakinah descends for the ones in the gathering, all sins are forgiven and transformed into good deeds, etc.

My question is that can these virtues be used for the gatherings where the talks of Imaan and Yaqeen are being done, for example, in the bayaans and muzakara when we go out in Tabligh?

Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) taking an oath that he will not have relations with Maria Qibtia (radhiyallahu anha)

Q: There are some ahaadeeth like the one quoted by Maulana Maududi which states that the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) had intercourse with Maria Qibtia (radhiyallahu anha) and he then swore never to have intercourse with her after facing pressure from Hazrat Ayesha and Hamza (radhiyallahu anhuma)... Is it true?

Virtue of fasting in Rajab

Q: An uncle told me that “… if you fast in rajab Allah Ta'ala on the day of judgment will give you a drink from His own hands from the river of Rajab which is whiter than milk sweeter than honey…”

I did some research and didn’t find any Hadith claiming this and I found out that there isn’t any evidence to back there being a specific reward for fasting during Rajab. I didn’t respond to his text to avoid trouble. My family is South Asian and bidah/cultural practices are rife.
