Q: In our school, two people had done a play in a program in which one becomes the devil and he tries to whisper evil thoughts into the other person. And the other person reads ta'wuz to ward the devil off. And he doesn't listen to the devil.
Was it sinful? It was done with intention of dawah.
A: Pretending to be a shaytaan is a shaytaani act which can risk your imaan. So those who did the act and those who witnessed and admired the act should all do taubah. And as a precaution they should repeat the kalimah.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
