Q: Is it possible in hanafi fiqh to hold ones baby or toddler during salah, if they are upset? When my child is upset it is very difficult to leave him when I pray. Does this depend on whether one knows they have or might have a dirty nappy?
A: If one holds the child during salaah and the child's napkin is not soiled with any impurity, then one's salaah will be valid. However, if the child's napkin is soiled with impurity, then one's salaah will not be valid.
