Taqleed

Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah and Ghair Muqallids

Q: I’m living in Pakistan. I belong to Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah (fiqh: Hanafi) Deobandi.

Here I’m putting forward the URL of Darul Uloom Deoband, India (referred above) i.e. http://www.darululoom-deoband.com/

You are requested to please go through the website and I can guess well that you already know it very well. There are further two sects in Deobandis i.e. Hayaati & Mamaati. I don’t know to which sect I belong. Please guide me separately about both of them and also confirm which of them is from Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah?

I’ve heard that the real Muslims/Mu’mins are Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah (4 Fiqhs i.e. Hanafis, Shafi’ees, Malikis, Hambliees) and that all those are not 4 sects but 4 Fiqhs. And all of those are combined one sect. Kindly confirm? Please also confirm that there are the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah in Haramain Shareefain as well.

Here in subcontinent, there rose numerous Fitnahs and one of them are so called Ahlulhadith (Ghair Muqallid). And here in my office one of my colleagues is from them. I’m facing too much offensive attitude from his side, which is in such a way that either you prove yourself ‘Right’ or otherwise become Ghair Muqallid. They say that taqleed is shirk. He downloads many clips from a certain website and offers me to take home for listening. They also claim that Aimmah-e-Ka’abah (Shaikh Abdur Rahmaan As Sudais & Shaikh Ebrahim As Shuraim) are also Ghair Muqallid that is they don’t do Taqleed of any one Imam specifically. Kindly confirm.

They also raise issue of 20 rakaats Taraweeh, which I’ll ask from you later.

I hope you’ve understood this Fitnah very well.

Is taqleed shirk?

Q: A Gair Muqallid told me that Taqleed is shirk. I asked him the reason for Taqleed being shirk. He told me that the Muqallids follow their Imam even if the Imam's view conflicts with Qur'an & Hadith. So Muqallids are Mushriq. Is the statement about Muqallids being mushrik given by him correct? Can you tell me some authentic reference to tell him that Taqleed is not shirk and give me some online sources links where I could gain knowledge about the topics of Taqleed, following only one imam etc?

Taqdeer

Q: Concerning "the pen has been lifted and the ink has dried", what is this referring to? i.e. What aspects of destiny? I was of the opinion that dua can change destiny, but how does dua changing destiny fit into the qouted hadith?

I guess what i'm asking is:

  1. What exactly has been written in ink? i.e. Is every action of every insaan written down?
  2. Can dua change any of what has been written in ink?
  3. If I make dua to change my destiny, is me making this dua written down? If so then is it not true that my dua hasnt really changed anything as it was already written that I would do this and my destiny would change? I just can't quite get my head around this, any light shed on the matter would be appreciated.

Changing One's Madh-hab To Fit In With The Local Community

Q: A friend of mine who was born in Pakistan had migrated to Indonesia. He has no intention of going back to Pakistan. Now, he has a family in Indonesia. He is asking is it right that he changed his mazhab because he don't want to be the only one different in his own house and the community. His wife is also a local there and his children are sent to the local madresa.

Following the Salafi Ulama

Q: A scholar who gives a legal opinion is rewarded for it, two rewards for the one who is correct and one reward for the one who erred. Therefore we say that all imaams are on the right path and can be followed. So why can't we follow these salafi ulama?
