Working for a company that studies fingerprints

Q: We run a DMIT company (dermatoglyphic multiple intelligence analysis). This is based on the science of dermatoglyphics (study of fingerprints) which reveals a person's inborn brain lobe functions, diagnosis of psychological disorders, learning sensitivity, multiple intelligence, learning style, brain skills, personality traits etc based on study of finger ridges of an individual. Is it allowed in Islam to work for such a company?

Hijaab

Q: I have been married for 10 years now. My husband had been living in ... for the past 25 years and I joined him here after marriage. When I came here, I discovered that he was involved in a lot of un-Islamic practices like gambling, interest based transactions and such. I, however, try my best to cope with all these, as he is a very nice person aside from all that. However, the major problem I face is in wearing hijab. I grew up in ... wearing niqab but I took it off when I moved to ... (I was lost for a while). I started wearing hijab again five years ago. He doesn't like me wearing it because he says it embarrasses him to be seen with me anywhere he goes. He doesn't take me when he is out with his friends and says we can't do a lot of activities because of my hijab. I take all this, but it has now come to the point where he stops talking to me for days entirely because he is upset about my hijab. I know I can't take it off and I don't want to take it off, but what to do? I don't know any solution for it. From what I have seen, my family and his family will tell me to take it off for peace between me and him. This problem is making me miserable. There are days when I really consider separation. Please help.

Repenting from kufr and shirk

Q: If a Muslim did kufr and shirk i.e. sins which put him out of the fold of Islam, then how can he come back into the fold of Islam? Also if he has done numerous other types of major sins, then what is the procedure so that Allah Ta'ala will accept his repentance? Please explain in detail.

Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam's) Mubaarak hair

Q: I would like to know the reality about Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam's) hair. I have seen the hair which is in the possession of one of my friends. Originally it was just a single strand and after sometime it has split into two. Is it possible for such a miracle to take place with Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam's) Mubaarak hair? Usually it is shown during the Meeladun Nabi Occasion.

Imaams intention when women are included in the jamaat

Q: We are Hanafi. If I am leading the salaah at home, and my wife wants to read salaah behind me. What intention should I make? E.g. during ramadhaan, I read Esha, Taraweeh and Witr. Do I need to make an intention for each two rakaats that she is behind, or can I make an intention once for Esha and let it count for all. How must the intention be made? Verbally, in the mind, or just a realisation that she is behind me?

Person working with public funds giving preference to his needy relatives

Q: With reference to Surah Yusuf (alahis salaam), is it correct for a person working with Public Funds (Government, NGO's etc.) to give preference to his Needy Family Relatives? This would be done in accordance with following the correct procedures, protocols, regulations etc. If it is correct, would it be preferable?

Zakaat on compulsory pension/provident fund

Q: My company has a compulsory pension/provident fund that I am compelled to join. There is no option not to join. I was aware of it when I joined the company, and I signed all the necessary paperwork. Does it still count as a pension fund that is forced upon me, and do I still need to pay Zakaah on the payout. If Zakaah needs to be paid, then on what amount. Usually, the company takes off a certain amount off your salary, and puts it towards the pension fund. You have no access to this money while in the employ of the company. When you leave, the company subtracts off the tax portion, and then only gives you what is left. Does zakaat need to be paid on the full amount of the pension, or only the amount that is actually paid out (which has the tax subtracted)?

Breaking one's fast through masturbation

Q: As a teenager I had a bad habit of masturbation, which I sincerely and deeply regret. The urge was very strong and I resorted to this sin even in the month of Ramadaan while in the state of Roza. I would keep the fast as usual, i.e have sehri, and abstain from food and drink until the time of iftaar, but on one occasion would commit this heinous sin. May Allah Ta'aala forgive me. Ameen. I need to know that what should I do?
