Giving charity to one's father in law

Q: I just started a business of my own. I decided to give 5% charity in the name of Allah from the profits. I just want to know that where should I spend this money.

There is a case among my relatives, my father in law has 7 children; 5 girls and 2 boys. Four of them are married and one is unmarried. The eldest son has a special case with deafness and now going to be blind because they don't have enough money to operate on his eyes. The younger son is not working at all. He just sits at home all the day. The age of my father in law is above 60s. My question is that can I give this money to him?

Remaining in pious company

Q: In the light of the narration below, should I stay in such a place or should I get away from a bad place so as not to be hit by punishment. If I stay in this bad place and I give advice so that people stop their bad deeds, is that correct or should I get away from this bad place?

1. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “When Allah sends down a punishment on a nation, the punishment will strike all those who are among them, and then they will be resurrected in accordance to their actions.'” (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 7108 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2879 with slight variation in the wording. Also see: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 7108)

2. Sayyidah Zaynab bintu Jahsh (radiyallahu ‘anha) relates: “I said O Messenger of Allah! Will we be destroyed when there are righteous people among us? He said: ‘[Yes], If evil deeds increase.'” (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3346, 3598, 7059, 7135 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2880)

‘Evil deeds’ has been explained as zina, open sinning and immorality. This Hadith explains that when evil becomes widespread, then the pious will also be affected when the punishment of Allah strikes. However, each person will then be raised in the Hereafter in accordance to his intention [and level of obedience]. (Refer: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 7135)

Nurse paying blood money for a patient that passed away

Q: I am working as a nurse in a clinic. One day a certain patient came and had been diagnosed with Malaria. The same day he was injected with diclofenac injection intramuscular for reducing fever and other antimalaria intravenous injection also.

The problem is that the place where we injected that diclofenac, that area swelled and the patient showed me after 3 days. On the 4th day he came back with a bad condition. When we tried to investigate other problems, we found he had hypoglycemia (low sugar) and anemia (low blood) but we decided to transfer him to the biggest hospital. Finally he died there.

My question is: what I should do? I am confused since I don't know whether he died because of that abscess or those other conditions he had. My aim is to pay blood money or fast as it is mentioned in the Holly Qur'an if you kill by mistake.
