Earning from an item one purchased with haraam money

Q: I used to make money by promoting un-Islamic cartoons. I used that money to buy a laptop. From that laptop I learned and make applications/ programs. Now I get a lot of money from the apps I made. My income now is halaal insha-Allah, but the problem is, my laptop was bought with haraam money.

What is the status of my income now? What about the knowledge I got when using the laptop? Is the money I generated, and the apps I made, all haraam? How do I repent and cleanse my profit/income?

Fear of not getting married due to one's family background

Q: My mother comes from a strict Barelwi family. They are firm on many aspects of bid'at in addition to meelad, such as niyaaz, 40 day functions, kheer puuri niyaaz, urs, qabar reverence, and the like. In fact, they are the organizers and sponsors of these baatil events.

My mother said herself that in view of this behavior of her family, finding a respectable wife will be difficult for me. She said that people consider all this in marriage. Is this true? I told my mother that she has never indulged in this bid'at since marrying my father 20 years ago. Furthermore, I too am not a bid'ati. In fact, people know that I have strong aversion for such things and am even against the Seerat Jalsahs of the so-called senior Deobandi Ulama in South Africa.

Will this behavior of my mother's family affect my marriage prospects? Do people consider this in marriage affairs? Surely they will investigate myself and parents before just looking at the extended family? Please advise my mother and myself.

Large gap between saffs in jamaat salaah

Q: For the saffs of the men, we understand that there should be continuity, and a gap larger than 2 saffs between saffs will cause the link to be broken, thus the salaah of those behind the gap will not be valid. (In the situation where there isn't any river, etc. inbetween).

What is the ruling regarding saff continuity for ladies? If a masjid has a room at the back, but between the last saff of the men and the women's room is a large gap, would the ladies salaah be permissible behind the imam? (assuming all other conditions are fulfilled such as the imam making niyyat for leading the ladies).

Reading Hizbul Bahr

Q: Are we allowed to read the dua "Hizb ul Bahr"?

What are the benifits of reading it? Is it sufficient to listen the audio of it? For your reference I am sending the dua below which I found on the internet.

لسيدي الشيخ أبي الحسن الشّاذلي الحسنِي رضي اللَّه عنه بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ * يا عَلِيُّ يا عَظِيمُ * يا حَلِيمُ يا عَلِيمُ * أَنْتَ رَبِّي * وَعِلْمُكَ حَسْبِي * فَنِعْمَ الرَّبُّ رَبِّي * وَنِعْمَ الحَسْبُ حَسْبِي * تَنْصُرُ مَنْ تَشاءُ وأَنْتَ العَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ * نَسْأَلُكَ العِصْمَةَ فِي الحَـرَکاتِ وَالسَّکَناتِ * وَالکَلِماتِ وَالإِراداتِ وَالخَـطَراتِ * مِنَ الشُّکُوكِ وَالظُّنُونِ * وَالأَوْهامِالسَّاتِرَةِ لِلْقُلُوبِ * عَنْ مُطالَعَةِ الغُيُوبِ * فَقَدِ ﴿ ٱبْتُلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ زِلْزَالًا شَدِيدًا ۝ وَإِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ مَّا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّـهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥٓ إِلَّا غُرُورًا ﴾ * فَثَبِّتْنا وَانْصُرْنا * وَسَخِّرْ لَنا هٰذا البَحْرَ * كَما سَخَّرْتَ البَحْرَ لِمُوسَى * وَسَخَّرْتَ النَّارَ لِإِبْراهِيمَ * وَسَخَّرْتَ الجِبالَ وَالحَـدِيدَ لِداوُودَ * وَسَخَّرْتَ الرِّيحَ وَالشَّيَاطِينَ وَالجِنَّ لِسُلَيمانَ * وَسَخِّرْ لَنا كُلَّ بَحْرٍ هُوَ لَكَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَالسَّماءِ * وَالمُلْكِ وَالمَلَكُوتِ * وَبَحْرَ الدُّنْيا وَبَحْرَ الآخِرَةِ * وَسَخِّرْ لَنا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ * يا مَنْ بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ * ﴿ كٓهيعٓصٓ ﴾ (۳) اُنْصُرْنا فَإِنَّكَ خَيْرُ النّاصِرِينَ * وَافْتَحْ لَنا فَإِنَّكَ خَيْرُ الفاتِحِينَ * وَاغْفِرْ لَنا فَإِنَّكَ خَيْرُالغافِرِينَ * وَارْحَمْنا فَإِنَّكَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ * وَارْزُقْنا فَإِنَّكَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ * وَاهْدِنا وَنَجِّنا مِنَ القَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ * وَهَبْ لَنا رِيحًا طَيِّبَةً كَما هِيَ فِي عِلْمِكَ * وانْشُرْها عَلَيْنا مِنْ خَزائِنِ رَحْمَتِكَ * وَاحْمِلْنا بِها حَمْلَ الكَرامَةِ * مَعَ السَّلامَةِ وَالعافِيَةِ فِي الدِّينِ وَالدُّنْيا وَالآخِرَةِ * إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ * اللَّهُمَّ يَسِّرْ لَنا أُمُورَنا * مَعَ الرَّاحَةِ لِقُلُوبِنا وأَبْدانِنا * وَالسَّلامَةِ وَالعافِيَةِ فِي دُنْيانا وَدِينِنا * وَكُنْ لَنا صاحِبًا فِي سَفَرِنا * وَخَلِيفَةً فِي أَهْلِنا * وَاطْمِسْ عَلَى وُجُوهِ أَعْدائِنا * وَامْسَخْهُمْ عَلَى مَكانَتِهِمْ فَلا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ المُضِيَّ وَلا المَجِيءَ إِلَيْنا * ﴿ وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟ ٱلصِّرَٰ‌طَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُ‌ونَ ۝ وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَمَسَخْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْ‌جِعُونَ ﴾ * ﴿ يسٓ ۝ وَٱلْقُرْ‌ءَانِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ ۝ إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْ‌سَلِينَ ۝ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰ‌طٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ ۝ تَنزِيلَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّ‌حِيمِ ۝ لِتُنذِرَ‌ قَوْمًا مَّآ أُنذِرَ‌ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَـٰفِلُونَ ۝ لَقَدْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰٓ أَكْثَرِ‌هِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ۝ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِىٓ أَعْنَــٰقِهِمْ أَغْلَــٰلًا فَهِىَ إِلَى ٱلْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ ۝ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنۢ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَـٰهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُ‌ونَ ﴾ * شاهَتِ الوُجُوهُ (۳) وَعَنَتِ الوُجُوهُ لِلْحَيِّ القَيُّومِ * وَقَدْ خابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًا * ﴿ طسٓ ﴾ * ﴿ حمٓ ۝ عٓسٓقٓ ﴾ * ﴿ مَرَ‌جَ ٱلْبَحْرَ‌يْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ ۝ بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْ‌زَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ ﴾ * ﴿حمٓ﴾ ﴿حمٓ﴾ ﴿حمٓ﴾ ﴿حمٓ﴾ ﴿حمٓ﴾ ﴿حمٓ﴾ ﴿حمٓ﴾ * حُمَّ الأَمْرُ وَجاءَ النَّصْرُ فَعَلَيْنا لا يُنْصَرُونَ * ﴿ حمٓ ۝ تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ ۝ غَافِرِ‌ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلْعِقَابِ ذِى ٱلطَّوْلِ ۖ لَآ إِلَــٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ‌‌ ﴾ * ﴿ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ﴾ بابُنا * ﴿ تَبَارَكَ ﴾ حِيطانُنا * ﴿ يسٓ ﴾ سَقْفُنا * ﴿ كٓهيعٓصٓ ﴾ كِفايَتُـنا * ﴿ حمٓ ۝ عٓسٓقٓ ﴾ حِمايَتُـنا * ﴿ فَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ﴾ (۳) سِتْرُ العَرْشِ مَسْبُولٌ عَلَيْنا * وَعَيْنُ اللَّهِ ناظِرَةٌ إِلَيْنا * بِحَوْلِ اللَّهِ لا يُقْدَرُ عَلَيْنا * ﴿ وَٱللَّـهُ مِن وَرَ‌آئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ ۝ بَلْ هُوَ قُرْ‌ءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ ۝ فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ ﴾ * ﴿ فَٱللَّـهُ خَيْرٌ حَـٰفِظًا وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ ﴾ (۳) ﴿ إِنَّ وَلِـــۧــِّىَ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ﴾ (۳) ﴿ حَسْبِىَ ٱللَّـهُ لَآ إِلَــٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَهُوَ رَ‌بُّ ٱلْعَرْ‌شِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴾ (۳) بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلا فِي السَّماءِ * وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ العَلِيمُ (۳) * أَعُوذُ بِكَلِماتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ ما خَلَقَ (۳) وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ العَلِيِّ العَظِيمِ (۳) * وَصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيمًا * وَالحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ العالَمِينَ ۞

Doubtful foods

Q: Are mushbooh foods considered najis? If I have some food which I later found out contained some mushbooh ingredients, and there is some residue/crumbs in my kitchen, do I consider this najis?
