Boycotting

Q: The topic is always discussed of boycotting certain countries products because they are oppressors. I feel that it is not feasible for few reasons:

1. The boycott will require abstaining from thousands of products that are being utilised and not just one product or one company. I mean why should we single out only company e.g. woolworths.

2. There is no unity in Muslim community when calls for boycotts are made.

3. What difference will a Muslim minority make in boycotting certain companies? What is the respected Mufti Sahebs advice in this regard?

Taking an oath of allegiance to gain citizenship in a non-Muslim country

Q: Zaid is in a country which is a country of kuffar (kuffar rulers, dominant kuffar population, elected body making laws is all kuffar). However there Muslims living there and there are hundreds of mosques, even medaris for religious education. There are some areas where Muslims presence is clearly felt. Zaid went there for higher education and finished his masters degree and then got a very good job of his field. The employer organization arranged for his permanent residence permit to work freely there. He wants to come back to a Muslim country. But, he will get much higher salary and many benefits if he has the citizenship of this biladul-kuffar. So people are advising him to first get the citizenship and then return your home country. Is it jaíz for Zaid to apply for citizenship that will require finally an oath of allegiance (giving up allegiance to his country of birth and declare allegiance to this country of kuffar?). Some say the required oath is only a political allegiance and not a religious allegiance because their constitution give complete freedom of religion.

Voting

Q: I'm from India. My question is can we Muslims living in non Muslim country like India can we vote for the democratical leader and can Muslims living in non muslim country such as India form a political party? I mean to ask is, is it right stay politically active in our country?

Boycotting Israel

Q: I have done research about boycotting Israel. I have found that if you buying products of which you know a percentage of the profit is given to the Israeli government, then you are actually paying to kill a Palestinian. I feel guilty of murder. What is muftionline.co.za's view in this matter? Should we boycott?

Government assistance

Q: I have 2 questions.

1. I am asked to lie by my parents to DWP. Both are against Islam - lying and disobeying parents. What should I do?

2. I am divorced and by English Law. I own half of the property where myself and our son both stay. What is the ruling Shariah wise?

Speeding

Q: Is drifting and overspeeding of a car haraam. Because recently my friends met with and accident and two of them died. My other question is that I heard that you will be risen on the day of judgement the way you die. How far is this true?
