Q: I am a security officer in Abu Dhabi. I have 3 questions:
A few days ago one of my friends told me that my boss's wife wants to sell her car, if you want to purchase it you can. I had a look at car and was interested to buy it but I could not arrange the money. The price is 5200 AED. When I was dealing that car one of my supervisor told me that he will pay and i'll return it on my salary. my salary came after 10 days. I said ok and he payed the same time. When the car was going to be transfered to my name again expense came to 1000 AED. I again took a loan from another friend. After that I am much worried that how can I return that money. One of my friend told me that take a loan from the bank they will give me one advance salary. I replyed to him no its sood. One day I was sitting on my post and a guy came to me, he asked me the way of a place and I guide him. At that time I was offering prayer. He become happy and told me that he will come tomarrow with a gift. Tomarrow he came with a bottle of water zam zam. I aked him to give me a slution about that. He asked me the bank name. I told him Dubai Islamic Bank. He told me no problem you can take becouse this money that you will pay as charges is going to charity that is not sood. After that I took advance salary and pay per month 100 AED as charges.
- Is this amont is sood? If yes then now what should I do to remove this mistake. I am very upset.
- I also have a personal insurance policy. is this also sood?
- Are National price bounds are aslo sood?
A:
- Yes, this amounts to sood (interest) and interest is haraam in Islam. You should sincerely repent to Allah Ta'ala and resolve not to return to this in the future.
Insurance policies are also impermissible as the elements of gambling and interest are found in it.
(National bonds) loaning the government money and receiving more than the loan amount is sood (interest), hence it is impermissible.

Q: First of all i am thankful to you that you answered my question. Yesterday I asked a question about interest. I need a little more explanation with regards to the car which I bought on and interest bearing loan. I now wish to sell it. The money which I will receive after selling the car, 80% will be used to pay-off the bank loan. 20% will be profit. Can I use the profit or give it in charity?
A: Ribaa (interest) and any involvement in interest has been severely condemned in the Hadith of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Sincerely repent to Allah Ta'ala for taking an interest bearing loan from the bank and make a firm resolve that you will not return to this sin in the future.
Since the profit acquired through selling the car was acquired through a halaal sale, the 20% profit will be halaal for you. Below are a few Ahaadith which reveals the severity of ribaa.
Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:
عن جابر رضي الله عنه قال لعن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم آكل الربا وموكله وكاتبه وشاهديه وقال هم سواء رواه مسلم ( مشكوٰة المصابيح ص244)
Hadhrat Jaabir (Radiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) cursed the one who consumes ribaa (interest), or feeds it to others, the one who records it (i.e. the transaction) and those who are witness to it (i.e. the transaction). And he said: “All of them are equal (in sin)”.
Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu Anhu) mentions that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “A time will definitely dawn upon the ummah when everyone will consume interest. If someone does not consume it (interest), the evil effects will definitely affect him.”
Hadhrat Abdullah ibnu Hanzalah (Radiallahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “If a person knowingly deals in one dirham of interest, it is worse than committing adultery thirty six times”.
