A: Yes, it is necessary for a wealthy person to discharge the sadaqatul fitr on behalf of his minor children who do not possess wealth (equal to the nisaab). If they possess wealth which equals the nisaab, then it is permissible for him to discharge their sadaqtul fitr from their own wealth.
