Q: I was wondering if the following names are acceptable:
- Taariq as in, Taariq bin Ziyaad.
- Shurahbil who was involved in the Conquest of Syria - is he a Sahabi?
- Shurayh
- Jurayj as in the one mentioned in a hadeeth.
Girls'
- Humaydah
- Rumaysaa (Umm Sulaym bint Milhaan?)
- Humayraa (Aa'isha (Radiyallahu Anhas) nickname?)
Please provide Arabic and meanings.
A: Taariq generally refers to one who appears at night.
We do not know the meaning of Shurahbeel.
Shurayh - One whose heart is made compliant for the acceptance of the truth.
Jurayj - Container or bag.
Humaydah - One who praises
Rumaysaa - Procyon - name of a star
Humayraa - Fair skinned.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
