Non-mahram taking thumbprints of the deceased

Q: When a person passes away, then one of the legal requirements is to take thumbprints. Generally a lot of difficulty is experienced in taking the thumbprints. Hence, under the circumstance, can the thumbprint of a woman be taken by non mahrams?

A: It is best that a Mahram take the thumbprint of a woman. If it is not possible that mahrams take the thumbprint, then the thumbprint may be taken by a non mahram.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
