Speaking in a different accent

Q: I belong to a south Asian country, where people speak English with a different accent. I don't like it, I prefer to speak English in a more american accent. Would that fit into the category of imitating the disbelievers.

A: English is not a Muslim language and south asians are not muslims as well. So whether you speak in one dialect or the other it is permissible. However, the American dialect has more show and pride.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
