Status of qurbaani

Q: Is qurbani on the day of eidul adha farz, wajib, sunnut or mustahab?

A: If a baaligh male or female who is not a musaafir possesses the nisaab amount (after deducting liabilities and debts) then qurbaani will be waajib. If qurbaani is done on behalf of a minor, the qurbaani will be nafil. Similarly, if a traveler or a person who does not possess the nisaab amount does qurbaani, it will be regarded as a nafil qurbaani.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
