When should the masbooq recite thanaa?

Q:

1. If one joins the jamaat during the first rakaat while the Imaam is reciting qiraat, should he recite thana

2. If he joins the jamaat in the second rakaat while the Imaam is reciting qiraat should he recite the thana when joining the jamaat or when he gets up to complete the missed rakaat.

2. When he gets up.
