Meaning of "Haamidan wa musalliyan"

Q: I'd like to know what does haamidan wa musalliyan mean? And why do your'll write it? Is it a sunnah?

A: Praising Allah Ta`ala and sending salawaat and durood upon Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).

It is recommended that before commencing anything we praise Allah Ta`ala, and reading durood goes towards the acceptance.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
