Making a nazr (vow)

Q: I told myself that if I did this again, I would fast for 3 days as a punishment, what fast is it necessary to me now?

A: If you verbally stated that if you do a certain action in the future , then you will keep three fast, then this is a nazr (vow). Hence, three fast will be compulsory upon you if you do the specified action. However, if you only intended in your mind and did not verbally say anything, then this does not constitute an oath. Hence, if you did the specified action, three fast will not be compulsory upon you.
