Eating at a dining table

Q:

1. Is eating at a dining table sinful? My family eats it that way.

2. Should I sit down alone and eat or together with my family on the table?

A: 

1. It is not a sin. However, it is not in keeping with the sunnat.

2. It will be advisable to sit down.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
