Migrating to a non-Muslim country from a Muslim country

Q: Is it a sin to migrate to a non-Muslim country from a Muslim country if one knows that they will be able to practice deen freely? The purpose of migration is to be close to their near and dear ones and not for a better lifestyle.

A: Though it will not be a sin if one is able to freely practise on his deen in the non-Muslim country, however, residing in a Muslim country is better and preferred in the case where one is able to freely practise on his deen.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
